Blitzr: a clean, modern landing designed from scratch for a 1-on-1 networking platform

A landing built from scratch for a 1-on-1 networking platform. It worked so well the team carried its cards, type and spacing into the product itself.

Three Blitzr screens layered: the landing page, the matching flow and an event page

Overview

Blitzr was born in the pandemic, when work and social life collapsed into endless Zoom calls, and people grew tired of being one more face in an online crowd. Blitzr is the opposite of a group call: it pairs people one-on-one, like a real conversation across a table, on a timer (when the time is up, the pairs rotate). It was a refreshing take on online connection. When co-founders Jeff Durso and Ted Lee came to me, three things existed: the idea, an interactive clock that would sit at the heart of the live experience, and a logo. They wanted a clean, modern site, what invited people to host a "blitz," or find one that fits your work or your interests and join.

The Blitzr landing page on laptop and phone, headlined "1-on-1 conversations that supercharge your events"

A landing built from three starting points

The brief started with almost nothing to inherit: an idea, the interactive clock, and the "B" logo. From there I designed the whole public page — the entry point into the product. The landing had to make the concept obvious at a glance and make a blitz irresistible to join: a hero that opens on the promise ("1-on-1 conversations that supercharge your events"), two clear ways in (Host a Blitz / Join a Blitz), and event cards enticing enough that you want a seat.

"When she came back with the design, we were all completely blown away. It far exceeded any expectations we could have possibly had." — Jeff Durso

Attendee list for an event: the host profile on the left, guest cards with Prioritise and Skip controls on the right
Similar events module: three event cards with date, description and category tag, above a Show More button
Host and group directories: hosts as profile cards, groups as rows with a cover image and a description

Every event as its own card

Events, hosts and groups each live in their own card. Same spacing, same grid, same type rules, but enough room for their own imagery and personality. Consistent enough to feel like one product, flexible enough that no two events blur together.

Clean isn't an accident, it's a system

The whole page runs on a few strict rules: a 12-column grid, even spacing, one corner radius reused everywhere, and Source Sans Pro with a clear type hierarchy. Buttons, links and cards each have defined states. That discipline is what makes the landing read as calm and modern instead of busy, and it's documented, so it holds up as the team adds to it.

Results

"It gives us the ability to go from beta, with all this momentum and excitement, and get ready for that next stage of growth."

"She kept drilling to the essence of what Blitzr is and why we do it, until she truly understood it."

"When she came back with the design, we were completely blown away — it far exceeded any expectations we could have had."

"If you want a design that's a true extension of the character of what you're building — I'd definitely recommend her."
